SPRING BREAK--Day 5

It's Friday night and I'm tired....but here is our latest adventure. After packing up the van, on Thursday we left at 1pm and took a two hour drive out into Texas Hill Country to Enchanted Rock....or in Alyssa's language, "chicken rock." We went 2 years ago (here is a picture) just for the day, but this time we camped overnight. Thursday after we set up camp, we explored a mostly dried up riverbed...the kids waded in it and found rocks and sticks and looked for tadpoles. They even piled rocks for a bridge/dam. Roasted hot dogs for dinner on our borrowed stove (forgot gasoline for ours, and there was a burn ban against fires). Played games inside the tent, and after Alyssa fell asleep, Michael, Matthew, Tyler, and I gazed at the stars and stayed up telling stories.

Friday after a breakfast cooked by Michael of eggs/sausage, we got ready to hike.

Alyssa preferred to be carried...Michael and I took turns. We really tried to make her walk, it just wasn't a pleasant noise that came out of her mouth when she wanted us to carry her. Once at the top, Michael thought it best to connect her with a leash like situation.

It was very windy at the top, and Michael took the boys exploring for a cave on the top of the rock while I kept Alyssa at bay with a pack of gum (swalling each piece after about a minute). Sunburned and tired, we broke camp and headed back home. Fun adventure.

Ooo, a camping trip. I like it. :)I bet your kids loved that!

I like camping, but not if it's for more than 2 nights. My family went a lot--my mom absolutely loves it. We have multiple giant bins full of camping gear.

So fun to read your blog!
