End of Summer Activity

I had been telling my kids about this candy shop downtown for a few weeks, and they just never seemed excited when I mentioned going (crazy, I know).  So I just shoved them all the in van one morning the last week of summer and we headed down.  BIG TOP CANDY SHOP has old fashioned ice cream and a soda fountain...they had fun picking out the candy they wanted and weighing it...
cali was mad b/c she couldn't open the candy...

i had to try the famous chocolate covered bacon.  luckily, a guy was buying some and didn't want it all, so I didn't have to shell out $3.50 for a sample

i got my treat across the street at Hey Cupcake. I love cupcakes more than candy.

i love the egg gumy candy matthew chose...
the kids liked the adventure after all...hallelujah

Mother daughter date

Back in August, there was a wedding reception for a girl whom I taught in young womens a few years ago.  I planned to bring the fam, but Michael wasn't thrilled about the idea, so I thought it would be fun for just Alyssa and I to go.  We got dressed up--all coordinating even.  Michael took some pics of us in the  backyard, then we headed to the event.  I thought we'd chat for a few, get some cake, then leave.  Alyssa had other plans to boogie the night away.  She was literally stealing the dance floor.  Often all by herself, sometimes she'd pull me in, then she found a little friend, then the bride (Cassie Mast) grabbed her hand. I was cracking up at my fearless girl gettin' down.  Love her un-inhibited-ness.

she loves the dip...

A few at the reception:

P.S. I am getting so tired of blogger's uploading method, seems to stall each time I upload, yay for a new post!
And a little video for anyone who really wants to see her dancing in action (I really wish I could take credit for her moves, but they are all her own):
