2 years ago, we surprised the kids by going to a cabin on Christmas afternoon. We wanted to do the same thing, but went 2 days later. Google is AWESOME and we found something just an hour and a half north, west of Waco. They were THRILLED, and it was a great getaway filled with discovering the woods, games, yummy food, a movie or two, fuseball, air hockey, dancing to "dynamite" on the radio, whiddling, b.b. gun shooting, and loving on each other.
We got Ruckus and have been obsessed with it ever since.
Cali kept thinking this bear was a dog and barked at it.
It was an awesome way to wrap up 2010, so so wonderful to take just a few days aside and have a mini vacation just down the road from our home, but away from everything!

what a great tradition! Family getaways are so important. I love how alyssa is hiking through the woods in a tutu. that is exactly how one of my girls would be.
