California continued: Santa Cruz Boardwalk

*Beware, about 10 posts in my cue that I plan to publish before Thursday evening when I go on my next trip.
Santa Cruz is a spot Michael would head to growing up. As we drove the hour through the mountains from parents home, I was shocked that they let him venture off for a full day back in high school to this spot. The pier is a lot of fun with rides and such. Unfortunately, my boys were not quite tall enough for the "big rides" but they had just as much fun on the kiddie rides. Tyler and Matthew in front, Alyssa and my neice Abigail in back. (I think you can click on them to view them larger)pure joy on their faces...

While Michael and his brother took the oldest boys to a haunted house, the girls hit the ride in the sky. Alyssa was asleep when we got on this ride (on my shoulder) but I was happy she woke up to enjoy it. Karen took this shot of me and my kids....
I took this of Karen and Joanna in front of us.....
we flew over the boys getting out of the haunted house...that was fun....
then I turned around and took this of Jen and Abigail
It was a special that night: 1 ticket per ride so it was a bit more crowded than I would have liked, but it was fun.

I know it can be dirty and crowded, but I always had a fun time going there and we went there a lot. Good times. Did you ride the Giant Dipper? I always catch air on that coaster and it is borderline too scary for me, but yet my favorite roller coaster.

I'm so glad you got to enjoy this family tradition with Michael. My brother and I loved to "hop over the hill" to the boardwalk or Sunset Beach when we were in high school. It was a pleasure to pass on that tradition to Michael and his siblings.
