Breaking Dawn

I went to the launch party for the book on Friday night with my sil Rachel. I was in Houston for 24 hours (for Michael's bike race) and I wasn't doing anything else at 11pm, so it sounded interesting. I must say, it was pretty entertaining. My brother Kirk came with us and we met Rachel's sisters later. Kirk estimated about 800 people packed into the Barnes and Noble book store. Many girls dressed in prom dresses, some with vampire bitten blood on their neck, some in homemade t-shirts. The average age was 13-17, but there was a good handful of over 20, and lots of supportive boys. Rachel took the pictures on her camera, and she can't seem to find her cord right now, or I'd show the image of she and I on a backdrop with chess pieces hugging onto a bouquet of flowers. Since then, I've read 140 pages. Not that I'm not interested, but I'd rather blog about this and other things and paint my kids room and go to lunch with friends and stare at the sink full of dirty dishes. Well, not really, but honestly the computer beats out a book any time....my computer to do list is a long one. I've also been online planning 2 upcoming trips in the next month....airplane, hotel, car rental, etc. Then, I will be done traveling for the year.

The best part was at midnight, when just before, everyone started counting down. Then at midnight the registers began and there was SCREAMING!!!! I was laughing so hard, I was crying. It was just too funny that people cared so much. My favorite group of 4 girls with matching homemade shirts (with puff paint like Natalie and I used to make in high school) and a red bow in their hair...got their books first. They held it high above their heads and ran screaming out the front door. I imagined they were going home to read it to each other, or better yet, just sitting in the car in the parking lot while taking turns reading the book aloud to each other. I must say, the description of the honeymoon on a private island sounded interesting. Anyway...I'll get it done. My friend Stacy read it all on Saturday, and she was satisfied with the ending.

It's good to know that the ending is satisfying. I'm about 200 pages from the end, and I've gotta say, I'm worried about being satisfied, myself, with how it ends. Happy everything-but-reading :)

Whoa. I have a blog forthcoming about this little piece of work.

That sounds like I would find endless entertainment out of it. Wish I would have been smart enough to go to an opening and mock people! I did see a trailer for the movie and it did make me laugh quite a bit. But you know my very controversial feelings on the whole thing. Glad it was so much fun though!

I had a similar experience when I bought Breaking Dawn at Borders. There were four teenage girls who were crying and hugging each other after they bought the book. I mean they were seriously just standing in front of the store weeping over a book. Hormones!!

Savor Breaking Dawn. I loved it!
