Tyler turns 9

Sunday, November 1st, my Tyler turned 9. It was the day the time changed for Daylight Savings, and the boys were up at the new 6am. I knew they would be excited for his presents, but we wanted to sleep a bit more. I gave them the very rare "ok" on a Sunday to go play video games. At 7am, Tyler opened presents from both sets of Grandparents. Lego Mania.

The Birthday Fairy spread confetti from his bedroom to the family room.
Michael went to meetings and we had cinnamon rolls for breakfast (lovin' the Rhodes Cinn. rolls. SO much better than any homemade I've ever made).
After church, we started Nacho Sunday. My friend Emily does this every week and I think it is a great idea. Quick and easy after church lunch. Alyssa took these....
Hopefully you aren't too offended by the nursing pics....its my life.
Catter II found at Michael's bike race the day before...
After church (we go 9am-12) they spend the WHOLE afternoon putting together the ships.
I am impressed at their patience and ability.
Michael helped some, but the boys did most of it. Here they are with both of their birthday ships. Tyler and Matthew put his big one together in about 5 hours.
I spent the afternoon in the kitchen making these Cake Balls, per Tyler's request, to bring to his class the next day. We also had his favorite meal, crunchy tacos.
The next day, his class each ate one. Yumm Yumm. I am surprised my boys still like me to hang out with them at lunch/recess. Soaking it up while I can.

Ari and Christian, Tyler's buddies in his class.
Also got to hang with Matthew at recess.
All the 1st graders liked the baby.

The Party happened on Saturday, November 7th. At the same park down the street as we had Matthew's. They played football...

Ate cake....
Pin the mouth on the lego man....

Build Tyler a cool Lego Fort...

Counting the legos from...

The lego hunt (like an egg hunt)
We hid 5 colors and only one black---whoever got the black got a whole lotta points. His friend Madison found it (I may have helped a smidgon) but Tyler only came in 2 points behind her without the high points.

The most hideous cake I've made thus far. Had an issue with the frosting and ran out of time. Oh well.

Lego Man made another appearance, then made new friends in the park trash can. It was a fun day, and I love to see my happy boy (except when he didn't win the games) enjoying life with his friends.

okay, i must comment/ask about more tidbits from your photos. I sometimes love the unintentional details in a photo the most. I LOVE your curtains in the front room. love the brown color and design. very chic. can i have them please? thank you. secondly, i noticed you have one of those melting pots for dipping the cake balls. I've thought about getting one of those but i'm very hesitant to fill up my kitchen with gadgets. do you love it? it seems like it would make the process so much easier but maybe using a bowl in the microwave is just as good. please advise.

That's awesome that you can nurse Cali in the midst of everyone. I'm having the hardest time nursing Finn without him checking EVERYTHING out. He's so distracted right now...I know it's the age for it. It's impossible to nurse him at church because the mother's room is packed. ARGH!

I love the orange headband and I love your fun mother ways. I think that about sums it up.

I love Tyler's grin in that first picture. :o)

I think it's awesome that you can bring homemade treats to school. We can't. ;o(

I want to make him a 9 shirt but am having problems finding plain short sleeved shirts. Grrr. Everywhere are LONG SLEEVES. Hello! This is Texas!
