Reading the website for the Cedars Cabins, I got really excited. Especially that the cute little house had a loft for the kids to climb up and sleep in. A sort of "secret hiding spot" that I knew they'd love. In the Post Oak Cabin, there was a porch, hammock, tree swing, and porch swing...and that got me quite excited!
This is what we drove up to...we knew it would be small, but next to the Main House, it really looked small.

400 square feet of fun
got some good air on the kite

A little tired from walking that entire road behind him.

Our neighbor didn't like us on his territory--Alyssa was terrified of them. On our walks, she was shaking/crying...so she got carried. The boys liked dodging the cow poop.
The kids had no idea what tetherball was....my grandma hill had one in her backyard growing up, and michael said they had one on their playground at school. We taught them how to play.

Lots of space to roam....
A hammock...
A tree swing....

A BBQ grill that didn't work (we tried to start it to cook the lasagna that I made because there was no oven). I walked to the Main House and they let me use theirs.
The shed full of outdoor toys--we played croquet
It was a really great 2 days. Just us. The wilderness to roam. And memories we made.

How fun!! That cabin is sooooo cute. And the restaurant is definitely in love with Texas (which it should be). I love the pic with Alyssa and the fry in her mouth. Hehehe.
That looks like such a great retreat! What fun for your family to get away.
Thanks for so many pictures! Looks like it was perfectly rustic. These are really beautiful pics of your family. I especially love all the ones of everyone on the long road, and the ones of Alyssa on the tree swing. Glad you had so much fun, and that the kids got to be outdoors for a few days :)
I think it is so good to just GET AWAY as a family, even if it is to a tiny cabin in the middle of nowhere. Looks like the kids had a great time!
What a cute little place and beautiful country. You are brave to have ventured so far from eating establishments (and Target).
It looks absolutely darling and charming. And I love the fry in little girl's mouth. Very funny.
I LOVE IT!! How cute and fun. I love the loft. By the way, I love the pictures of your son in the street. SO CUTE!!
Looks like fun! What a cute little cabin, just perfect for a family getaway. I'd like to do that sometime.
Only in Texas would people be out roaming in the wilderness that looks so green and charming. What a fun little getaway!
I love Matthew's dramatic faces! They are so funny. What a cute little cabin, it looks so clean, and nice inside. My kind of "roughin' it".
Great new family tradition.
what a good idea to just get away from everything and spend quality time together! i wish we could do that!!!
