couch and chair and paint

In the July days leading up to the 4th, I was very proud of myself for posting on Craigs List and subsequently selling 2 pieces of beloved furniture. Beloved, why? The big blue couch was just comfortable. Best napping spot, and where I cuddled with the kids to read books. But it stayed in our home longer than it should have. It didn't fit right anywhere, and for years I had thought to get rid of it, and the time finally came. We got $50 for it, and it went home with a young boy furnishing his first apartment. His dad and brother came to carry it off with him. I wasn't sure it would fit into their SUV, but they made it
Greeny was the time out chair ("go sit in the green chair"), given to Michael and I from my grandparents when we got married. It just needed to go, too.

A guy emailed me saying his son was moving to his first apartment and he needed a couch. I acually had several requests, but 2 never showed. I listed it for $45 (even though we got it free about 5 years ago from a friend moving). In my listing I said it was a great nap couch, and that hooked 'em because his son had a brother that would need a couch to sleep on occasionally. They said it was in better condition than they expected and he said not to bother with change for his $50. Woo hoo! We wondered how they'd get it into that car....
But they did. Bye bye couch, I loved you so.
So excited about my 2 new club chairs we ordered from Target. I had been looking at replacing that couch with 2 chairs for YEARS! At least for 3 years I've been looking around. I just didn't want to part with the couch. The big boxes came in just 2 days.

Tyler helped me assemble them, very easy (and I was impressed with myself for trying--Michael was tiling the bathroom that day).

This is the room before.....

And this is after, my friend Michele helped me paint, got new curtains, new chairs, bye bye couch, gone is the large picture of my kids/easel, and the green chair was where I am standing.

It still could use an ottoman or something, but this works.
Ain't she pretty?

It looks wonderful, but a big change. I loved the yellow but I like the earthy tones.

Gotta love craiglist. Most of our furniture is from craigslist. Trying to get rid of a few things now.
