If I were crafty....

I love handmade things, but I'm not so adventurous when it comes to crafty things. If I have someone to work with, I can be more patient with myself. I have a few crafty friends that I'll show things to and either offer to pay them to make it for me, or help me make it.

I put a little tab on the side for the crafy sites I've seen that IF I were crafty, I would attempt some of them. If I love it enough, I'll find a way.

My friend Emily in Connecticut is crafty. Unfortunately, I don't live close enough to work side by side with her. I "oohed and ahhed" over a onesie she made her daughter and today, I got this in the mail.

Cutely packaged and everything. For the baby: 2 onesies, a skirt, headband, and 2 burp cloths
Close up on just the onesies. I love solid colored onesies and they are hard to find. Emily said she got the ones at Target that have something written on them and just covered them up. Isn't that crafty? Brown and green are pretty much my favorite colors, too (I was wearing a green shirt and brown skirt when I opened it).
I LOVE it so much!!! I would have my girls (and my own) wardrobe be all handmade cuteness if I could. I like original items. I keep telling Emily to sell her stuff, and for now, she and her (also crafty) sister Abby are making cute things to sell for a charity called Baby Rhodesbud. Go check it out if you want something cute (though the onesies aren't on there yet, maybe they will if they get enough people bugging them).

Alyssa took this of me today (in my green and brown as mentioned above):

~Today, I took Cali to the boys school so that she could be "show and tell." Matthew has been asking since she was born when I would bring her in. Matthew was beaming as he told his class about her, Tyler had to be prodded a bit with what to say. All the kids thought she was so cute and little. Yesterday's Doc appointment says she weighed 7 pounds 9 ounces (born at 6 lb. 10 oz.)
~Also went to our first park play group since the baby was born. I love to chat with friends while Alyssa plays with hers.
~Passed out the yearbooks at the elementary school that I'd worked months on...fun to watch the boys look for themselves as I remember doing when I got my yearbook. They are in their quite a few times...what can I say?
~Just purchased items online for Alyssa's Cinderella Birthday Party next month. (Did I mention that she told a friend that Cali's middle name is Cinderella?) I decided to be organized and plan ahead instead of scrounge the week of her birthday. Since it is a specific theme (not just princess) I found plates and napkins and such with just Cinderella. I'm usually against promoting a Disney or character theme, but its all she's talked about for quite a while now. I shopped around at online stores and spent under $50 for favors, decorations, plates, and everything. All I'll need to do now is make the cake (and grab some ice cream) . I'm gonna try one of these:

Wish me luck. It won't be this pretty, but Alyssa shouldn't know the difference.
~Michael's early day today--he and the kids washed both cars and are now jumping on a wet trampoline (sprinkler underneath). It is 95 degrees today in Texas.
~We have soccer practice tonight. I think we'll get a snow cone after.

*I'm working on a post about new mom advice...I could write a book. Stay tuned. Thanks for all the kind comments in the previous posts. I love to hear from all of you.

I am so glad that you liked the stuff...you were enthusiastic and it was validating! You never cease to amaze me with your endless energy and activity--you slowed down for like a day to have a baby and now you are up and running again. Good luck with the party, it sounds all girlish and fun! (and I will be thinking about snow cones now...a grape one would be nice...)

My Princess Cora says she wants a Thumbelina party. We'll see if her convictions last through August.
