Alyssa's Sparkly Ring

The past few months, Alyssa has had the habit of nail biting. It hurt my heart to think of this lasting, so I have wanted to nip it in the bud. We first tried the nasty nail polish, but she just peeled it off or got used to it. When she stole borrowed a ring from my favorite costume jewelry store in early December we had a stern talking about taking things from stores. We then returned the item (which she felt remorse for and I was glad). I then told her that if she wanted a sparkly ring, she could earn it by not biting her nails.

I'd catch her a few times trying to secretly bite them, but after reminders of the "sparkly ring" it actually seemed to work. I told her after Christmas we'd go find one (as her nails are now long enough to get dirt in them and I have to actually clean them out).

I kept complementing how beautiful her nails looked and encouraged the family to do so as well. She seemed pleased with herself and I hope this sticks.

Although the ring is adult size, she loves it. It isn't the same one that she stole borrowed, but its cute. I think I can get an adjuster thing at Walgreens (so I hear) so maybe it will actually fit.

Sassy, isn't it?

Ooo I like the sparkly ring. I hope your plan works! Oh and we're still on the prowl for the pan. We didn't stop by any grocery stores in our quick jaunt to Paris (honestly I didn't really see any), but there are a couple of stores here in the neighborhood that should have what we're looking for. :)

Good solution. For Eve the promise of stickers on her painted nails worked (you have to have enough nail to put a sticker on!)

:) She is a beautiful girl. Hope you are feeling well.

If only a ring would convince my son Alec to stop biting his nails. I'll have to try nail polish next. Thanks for the tip.

I do love AJ's Sassy Ring. It's so sparklie!
