I decided to throw in ding dong ditching, dropping off treats at friends home. Each of us had a bag of treats and our own turn to run them up to the door. It was so fun to laugh and support each other as we ran back. Alyssa was so excited for her turn, but then she got apprehesive walking up alone, so Tyler helped her. They all got really into it. At the last house, it was daddy's turn, and we knew this family was out for the night. So Michael thought it would be funny to walk really slow up to the door and the kids kept telling him to go faster or he'd get caught. Well he didn't, and all of a sudden they drove up. Michael was too late, but tried to run away. Our friend (Gabe) got out of his car and ran after him and pretended to tackle Michael to the ground. It was really funny for everyone, but the boys told Michael he shouldn't have been so slow and he wouldn't have been caught. Matthew said, "You can't try to be sneaky ever again, daddy." And we was serious, concerned we got caught. We came home and stirred our hot chocolate with candy canes and it was oh so yummy!

Then earlier this week, I believe Wednesday, we got some frozen rain. Now quite snow, but ice covered the trampoline and roofs and it looked like snow. The boys went out before school and jumped for a bit on the icy tramp. They were so excited.

That's such a fun tradition! I love the idea of driving around in your jammies - it's something I've done a few times, just to run errands with people or something, and it feels like you're cheating - I love it! :)
Fun, fun times! Allison is sitting here and said, "I wish I had those friends..." `
My Mom used to take us to see the lights every year in our p.j.s. It's one of my favorite Christmas time memories. I hope you continue the tradition.
i love this idea too! i hope that y'all had a good time. peter and i do a tradition every christmas where we ding-dong ditch and try not to get caught... the adrenaline rush is amazing!
That sounds like a fun tradition...if only we had someplace like Prestonwood in CT (remember the crazy neighborhood in Houston?) But candy canes and hot chocolate we can definitely do.
Such a fun tradition--I like the part about wearing your pajamas. In our family we always went and ate a Chinese restaurant on Christmas Eve, and then we would go to Prestonwood and look at the lights. I remember the year my grandma was living with us, she came with us to see the lights. Such great memories. :)
i love family traditions. we just might add jammies to our driving-around-looking-at-the-lights tradition. hot chocolate with candy cane stirrers is the best!
So fun.
