At 7am I got up to chop the stuff for the insides, and Michael lovingly offered to chop the onions. For those of you that know me well, know I have nothing to do with onions--ever. But I do believe they give a good flavor, so I purchased one, and he chopped and handled it. They weren't eaten in the end. Below I am "massaging" the oil, salt, pepper, into the skin. The kids are appropriately giving the "ewwww" faces. Matthew was disappointed that this turkey didn't have feathers on it.
This is what I found at 6:45 when I got up...they were all awake (came in at 6:15) and it was dark and the flash blinded them.
At 9am, we went to watch Michael at the Turkey Bowl. I love this action shot....he just caught the ball and was running, but they got him.

There was a playscape for the kids to play on right by the field, which was perfect.
Back at home, we pulled the turkey out about 1:30, let it sit (tented) for 20 minutes, then Michael started carving. Matthew wondered if he had any "thanksgiving" clothes, and when I said no, I suggested fall colors, so this was his chosen outfit. I love it:)
The table setting....tableclothes from walmart (linda got me the first one here, and I got another) The dishes, napkins, and orange tablerunner from IKEA, the placemats also WalMart.

Friends began to arrive just before 2....and we made the preparations.... yum yum food: I just did the turkey and cranberry sauce, I was grateful that was all...I requested lots of rolls, so 2 others made rolls and we ended up with LOTS of rolls! Plenty for the next day, too (all of us).
Half of the adults sitting up to eat
After we were stuffed, we played a game: buzzword...the girls sadly lost.
I like Michael's face here...thanks Justin for the shots of us.
Claytons, Blacks, Dukes, Hansens
It was a fun afternoon with friends. My boys were sad that there were no friends their ages, but they ended up being okay.

Your turkey looks delicioso, and it looks like y'all had so much fun. I love the table setting decorations!:)
Did you or Michael cut up the turkey? Kirk and I got a whole rotisserie chicken yesterday (by accident--we meant to get chicken pieces) and I was totally creeped out by the tiny legs for some reason...anyway Kirk cut it up and I squirmed until it didn't look like a chicken anymore.
I love your decorations! Those placemats and plates were so perfect - I want them! And your turkey was such a beautiful color! Looks like lots and lots of fun!
Your turkey is simply lovely. What a fun time...how often do I need to remind you that I am sad that I don't live closer?
That was so fun!! I have to agree, that turkey WAS delicious! I hope you don't mind I stole a couple pictures off your blog, since I forgot to bring my camera. Hope that's okay!
I contemplating eating my computer monitor! Your turkey looks AMAZING! I'll have to try your recipe.
I am really wanting to try a brined turkey. Maybe next year. I'll have to ask you for hints. :o) Glad you had a great T-day!
Looks like it was all a hit -- I was cracking up laughing at the part about onions! :)
