Ikea, the dentist, and pies

I first went to this store before I began my freshman year of college. I got some necessities for cooking dorm life, and got a fun apron that I still use. Almost 2 years ago, one was built just down the road from me. When we drive by, my kids scream out, "IKEA!" and on drives home from Dallas, they look for this landmark to tell us we are almost home. They requested to go over the summer, just to go to the play place.

I don't go very often, as I feel I have the things I need for my home. But I went yesterday to look at dishes. Alyssa was excited to play in the kids room, and they told me the limit was an hour and a half....what?! Before it was about 45 minutes. I knew I wouldn't need that long, but it was nice to know I had it. Just before I got to the area with dishes (you have to roam around this place) I smelt the aroma of the cafeteria. It smelled yummy. I decided I needed a little snack. And hey, I had time. I perused my options, only to come across a sign that said "Free Breakfast on Us." My eyes bulged (on the inside) and didn't want to ask and sound silly. Then the lady offered, "would you like our free breakfast?" Well, yes, of course. I thought I shouldn't ask for an extra piece of bacon on my free breakfast, even though I wanted it. I went through the checkout line and they guy pushed a few buttons and said "thanks." It was eggs, 2 bacon strips (they were a bit scrawny) and hash browns which were basically mini fries. I sat alone (which was quite enjoyable) looking around, wondering who else got the free breakfast. How did everyone know? It was thrilling. I found some tan dishes at a great price (planning for my Thanksgiving dinner) and an orange table runner. Alyssa had a fun time, and I left feeling very fulfilled.

I ran around shopping this morning in the pouring rain while AJ was at preschool. I was trying to find Turkey decor because I am hosting the Recipe club at my home tonight, the theme is pies (I just needed a few things to spruce up the place). I made a yummy blueberry pie this morning, and it is chilling. I also went to the dentist and got my teeth cleaned, which I love doing. LOVE going to the dentist:) It feels so good.

We had to have our washing machine fixed last week...and we thought we were going to have to buy a new fridge, but then it decided to work again. Helping plan a fundraiser for our school, which is a race this Saturday...its called the WING DING 5K, so all you local people, check the link and consider it! It's going to be fun, with lots of giveaways! There is also a 1K for the kids, and they get a shirt AND a medal for finishing!

As long as all that's happening is a cleaning, I like having gone to the dentist. I do enjoy the clean feeling afterward. I just hate actually BEING there and having it done.

Becky Roberts and I ran to IKEA a few weeks ago and couldn't pass up the free breakfast! Yum!

You love the dentist? You are weird! ;) Good for you. I wish I loved the dentist.

i love the dentist, too. it means a full 1/2 hour to just lay back and relax without kids demanding something from me!

I saw that they had that free breakfast - that's amazing! If only I had a way to get to the one here, I'd be all about that :) I love that you love decorating for holidays and parties! You'll have to post pictures of your decorations for us to see :)

I love going to the dentist too, I never understand when people say they get all freaked out there, it is one of my favorite kinds of doctors to visit! :)
