We landed in Manchester, New Hampshire. Southwest flies there, and as a suburb of Boston, a good size airport. There was a welcome chill in the air that afternoon, and I was SO excited! We got to the car rental counter and though we reserved the economy car, we were offered a mini van. Kinda funny, but why not? We spread out quite nicely, deciding to store all our luggage in there and each night just take the necessities in. We drove to our first Bed and Breakfast in Hillsborough, NH. I'll document that in my next post. But here we are at dinner at Nonni's, famous for the largest meatball (in the Guiness Book, until beat out by Jay Leno, trying again to beat him in November). It was yummy and it was fun to chat with the locals!
Quechee Gorge on the border of NH and Vermont. Near Woodstock.
Lots of different kinds of fudge at Chutters--the longest candy counter in the US (or world, not sure). We got fudge to last us through the trip. Littleton, NH.
I love this shot! Michael had to tie his shoe and Cali was just along for the ride:) Love her cute little smile.
If only Michael were smiling and Cali were looking--one of my favorite scenic shots with us in it--and I am standing "just so" I feel more slender (its a daily battle, right?). A stranger took this of us in the White Mountains--Flume Gorge in New Hampshire.
Set up on a picnice table, this is in Cape Elizabeth, Maine--the most photographed Lighthouse in the world? I think it was the one in Forver Young.
Eatin our Lobster. Just had to add that the Twin Lobster meal came with 2 lobsters for $22. We thought we split it, then found it was a $6 split charge if we don't order another entree. We decided to do it, then I looked down at the menu and found a hamburger for $6.50. Now why would I pay $6 to split when I can pay $6.50 and get a hamburger with it? So I told the waitress (while Michael whistled looking off in the distance) and we were filled sufficiently.
We were provided with bibs, a bucket, and instructions on how to get the meat from the lobster. It was pretty good. But I may have preferred the hamburger.
Our B&B in Maine was right on the ocean. This is at our breakfast table with the surf in the background. More on this later.
I ordered Maine blueberry juice with breakfast--yum! I love blueberry anything.
Look at my sweet baby! She was a great traveler. We logged nearly 500 miles on this trip. She slept a lot in the car and cried a good amount too:) But when she was out of that carseat, she was super happy. Lots of cute smiles and fun to have alone time with just her.
The sitting area in our Maine B&B looked out on the ocean. So cool.
Our van and our stuff.
I'll now work on entries from each place we went and stayed on my "big" camera. Lots to come, I'm going to try to crank this out.
