UTAH~Day 1~Airport & Mayan Adventure

Wednesday, July 15th, we flew out at NOON. My mom was in Pennsylvania the day before helping my brother and his family get settled from their move (from Puerto Rico). She flew back to Houston Tuesday night, repacked, then drove to my house and got in around midnight.
Wednesday morning we got organized and headed out the door just after 10am.
I dumped her, the kids, and our luggage off on the curb and hurried to park the car. We arrived a bit later than planned, so I did a lot of running to meet them. Luckily, they let her check me and our stuff in without me. The kids flew great, watched a movie on my moms laptop and Cali slept both legs of the flight (we changed planes in Phoenix). Yay for Cali on her first airplane flight! The hum of the engine always seems to lull my babies. We got to Utah around 4pm. My kids were troopers. I held Cali and pulled a bag, my mom pulled a bag (and her 3 carry ons) and Matthew pushed the stroller full of carseats and backpacks while Tyler pushed the cart with other big bags. Alyssa carried a carseat.

Em--here is the picture I never took of the travel system/stroller.
It was my brother's birthday and we decided to surprise him. He thought we were flying in 2 days later, and his wife, Rachel, helped us with the surprise. We went straight to Sandy to the restaraunt Mayan Adventure.

This is Kirk re-enacting his surprised face. Though this is a much better face than the original.
I love the candle they provided in his dessert/birthday cake.
We were on the 4th floor of the restaraunt, they had "Mayan's" dive into water. It was pretty interesting. Kids liked it.
Myself and Rachy and Cali (they met her for the first time)
Kirk and my mom
Grandma and Grandpa Ball
We headed back to Riverdale/Ogden (an hour drive) after we ate and Grandma just cuddled Cali. It was also their first time meeting her. Grandpa told me that Gma's hands were just aching to hold her:)

Love the faces on that picture with the "candle". :) Also, isn't traveling with kids a challenge? Not the kids actually , but all the stuff you have to have with kids, carseats galore, bags, backpacks, stroller, sling/bjorn/wrap, man! When something seems stressful at our house the kids will say "Well, it isn't as bad as security!" They get stressed at security at an airport. LOL.

How fun. I love well-documented trips. Traveling with all of them always makes me a little anxious but things just work out. Sounds like fun so far!

I'm so glad you're doing this adventure by adventure! :) Precious about Grandma Ball aching to hold Cali. I was, too! She's so wonderful. I forget that Tyler doesn't love fireworks/theatrics like that, until I see pictures like the one of the candle.
