My friend Emily and I decided to go to the temple one day. Funny story because we planned the day and the time to go. I got a sitter for my kids. Asked my brother in San Antonio to meet me there to watch Cali for me, and we were set. We planned to go July 2nd in the afternoon. On the morning of July 1st, I realized my recommend expired the night before. June 2009. DARN!!! I sheepishly contacted my Bishop and a counselor in the Stake Presidency and they agreed to meet me that Wed. night. Fortunately both were already going to be at the church. Got that. Then Thurs. morning my sitters mom called and told me she was sick...DOUBLE DARN!!! I called my friend Debra and she said it would be no problem to have my 3 oldest come play for 2 hours until Michael could pick them up at the end of his work day. Hallelujah! Emily and I left at 3:30 with plans for the just under 2 hour drive to get there at 5:30, but we hit Austin traffic. THEN in San Antonio we missed the exit. We got there at 5 minutes to 6pm, passed Cali off to my brother and his wife and sped walked into the temple. We were too late for the Endowment Session we had an appointment for, but we did Initiatories and that was really nice. We had time to visit with Russ and Kim at the end before their 8pm session, and had a nice dinner. Just another example of the powers of darkness trying to keep us from the places we should be.

Oh playdough, you are a nice Mom.
And I concur with you on the temple story...the last couple of times we have tried to go, there has been much drama just like yours. I'm glad you have so many nice people willing to help!
(and darn you and your cute long dresses...I just got myself one and it is all your fault because you make them look so cute.)
my kids love playdough time too. I need to get better about letting them mix colors together. haha
glad you got into the temple to do initiatories. I just went last week (and ended up going alone) then got there and NO recommend! I barely made it in with a call to my bishop. Sheish.
Good on you for not loosing your cool in the face of opposition. You conquered each obstacle and didn't let it stop you from making it to the Temple! Great example to share with the rest of us.
