We got to check out of the hospital right around NOON on Sunday. The kids were done with church then and I texted my brother that we'd probably arrive around the same time as them. Here is Cali--so excited to be in her spunky carseat (thanks to my 6 college friends, I got the new and improved travel system I desired). Venturing out into the world for the first time.

When we turned the corner to our street, we saw the kids waiting for us. They ran down the sidewalk (about 5 houses worth) to meet us at our driveway. It was so cute to see their excitement at our coming home. (Click to see larger, I had to edit Michael's hand out of the picture, but I just didn't take much time to make it look decent).

Tyler giving me a big hug (Russ took my camera).

I love the look on Alyssa and Kim's face

Helping pull Cali out of the back...

And here we all are (me in my pink robe)

I posted this before, but I just love it, and it goes with the topic. So happy to pull the baby out and show her around the house.

They each took their turns cuddling their sister.

My 2 neighbors Maggie and Clair saw us arrive and came over shortly thereafter. Stacy (on right) brought us dinner and diapers at the same time.

Stacy also brought a cute mini plant for each of the older kids. They were so excited to get it started.

More cuddling

Sunday night, my friend Liz stopped by to meet little Cali before heading out on a trip.

Our first night home: Michael cuddling

And prepping for her first slumber in the bassinet (borrowed from a friend). She actually slept quite well her first night home. The best of my 4.

By the way....of course I've already done "Baby's First photo shoot." In fact, technically I've done 3. Be patient, my friends. I have to wait until at least Saturday to post those. And yes, Tobi, I like having pictures of my visitors, my friends. I want my history to be more than just documenting my children, but the people who surround me and support me. I used to be embarresed to take pictures of my friends since becoming an "adult" but I've gotten over that. This is the end of the visitor pictures.

Love all the cuddling pictures!
I love that every emotional is documented...it will be so special to have that in years to come. And go Michael in your very orange pj's.
WELCOME HOME and CONGRATS!! She is absolutely beautiful -
I wish I could hold Cali!! Oh well. It'll happen eventually. :) That's cute that the rest of the kids ran all the way down the sidewalk to see y'all.
We've loved the Chronicles of Cali - it helps make up for not being there. We're so excited to see her again (for me) and for the first time (Dad). How could a baby not know how much she's loved already. What a lucky girl! I love you all.
MOM
I'm going to be in your part of town tomorrow. Can Cora and I come and meet Cali? I would love to have my pic taken with the newest little Duke.
BTW- Love your obsessive picture taking.
You are making me even more excited to bring a baby home! A baby girl at that! :) Thanks for sharing all of your thoughts, emotions etc. Love yow.
I love that your kids ran down the street to meet you! Love that.
I think the best part of having my last few children was watching the older ones fall in love. It was precious and sometimes, literally took my breath away. What an amazing gift for them. I love your big guy cuddling on the couch, so tender. :)
I love Michael and Tyler cuddling Cali. So adorable. So glad you're home and happy!
I love the excitement of bringing home a new baby. Everyone's faces are so happy! Great documentation of it all.
