In October 2010, my friend Stacey asked if I wanted to run a half marathon with her in April. I laughed. Did she know I'd never run more than a 5k before? And that wasn't such a great time, either. I think I gave her the impression that I wasn't interested, but I thought about it for a few days/weeks and in my mind, I figured I could do it. When I went to tell her that, she had already recruited Heather, so the 3 of us began a journey. A journey of waking at 5:20am every t/th morning to run together for an hour before school. Starting in January, we also ran every Saturday together...adding mile upon mile each week. I was amazed at myself, I could believe I was running 5, 6, and 7 miles. In February, I went home to Houston for Russell's birthday and ran 6 miles with Ryan and Russell. It was fun to be worn out, but not feel I needed to stop. We ran from my moms house down to the Kroger by the temple and back home...without stopping. I think Ryan was waiting for me to say stop, but I didn't. I ran with my water bottle belt and he thought he was funny making fun of the sound of my "jugs."
