Story #1
Two nights ago I was on the computer in our office. It is next to the girls room, but the doorways are a good 15 feet from each other. In the evening, Cali is placed in her crib to fall asleep and Alyssa starts off in our room. Once they are both asleep, Alyssa is carried by Michael to her room (though she usually comes back to our room in the night--to the floor).
Anyway, Michael was carrying Alyssa to her room, and Cali heard us and lifted her head up. I ran out and turned the hall light off. Michael laid Alyssa down. I got to working on my computer and I thought to myself..."did Michael come out yet?" Cali made a little noise, I figured she just fell back asleep. Not sure where Michael was, I heard a distance noise that I thought was him listening to the itouch. He listens aloud to conference talks in the evening. About 10 minutes later, Michael comes out of the girls room saying, "Dude, didn't you hear me?" Huh? I said I thought he was out listening to the touch. He said when Cali popped her head up and I ran out, he darted to the floor. He was laying on the floor waiting for her to go back to sleep. He noticed the laundry room light on in the hall and crawled over to the baby monitor and was saying quietly into it..."turn the LIGHT OFF." That noise that I thought was him listening to the touch was the other end of the baby monitor in the family room. I couldn't stop laughing, and is a funny display of this stage in our lives.
Story #2
For the past nearly 3 years, Michael has been the Elders Quorum President in our ward (that link is for my friends not of our faith). He's generally a quieter man, and I've enjoyed watching him grow in this capacity. Become more social, create friendships with the men at church that he might not have otherwise done. I think he is a great leader. Since we have had help from the men at church with moving several times in our lives, we both feel very strongly to help others. I am happy to share him with others on a Saturday morning because many wives sacrificed their husbands to help us. If we are in town, he pretty much always goes to help out at moves. Last Sunday, someone else made an announcement about our move. Someone else then stood up and reminded the group that Michael is always at others' moves, and that this would be a good thank you for being a great leader. Michael said he felt pretty awkward to hear that, but grateful as he hopes we get a good group to come out. Then someone else said, "Michael has helped many moves and he STILL wants us to move him?" He thought that was funny b/c he's seen many things break with careless movers.
We are in the full swing of packing, and our house is a complete disaster. We were supposed to close tomorrow morning at 9am, but we just found out this afternoon that we might not be able to close on our home until tomorrow afternoon or Friday morning and both Michael and I have been on the phone irate about it. We don't get keys until the funding is received and we've got things delivered for Friday. Slightly stressful. We shall see...
Here is our house lately:

I AM DYING about that first story. Ya, Jared and I tip toe around when Finn is sleeping. I think it makes for a light sleeper...I don't know what we'll do when we have more kids and trying to cram them all into one room...
GOOD LUCK WITH THE MOVE!
i'll tell reed to break as much stuff as possible on saturday :)
That first story is hilarious. I love the image of him army crawling through the room and whispering loudly. Good luck with the move! I wish I was there to help entertain kids, put stuff away and lend my husband's muscles. What an exciting week!
I laughed out loud at that first story. Hilarious! I hope everything came together for the close on the house. Can't wait for your next post in your new home!!!!!! So exciting!! Give us a good photo tour when you get a chance.
Funny stories . . . made me chuckle. :) I just laugh when I think of the monitor story because that is so something we would do ourselves. . . fun times.
