My mom gave Michael a Rubix cube for Christmas. I thought it would be one of those things that got stuffed on the shelf, but he actually opened it and messed it up. He has spent those weeks messing with it off and on. The boys messing with it. Talking about it with friends. Finally, he had to have some answers. So he googled "how to solve a rubix cube" and got this link. He was hovered around the computer with the cube, a notebook, and a pen...writing down the algorithms the guys spouted off: "Right inverted, down inverted, right, down..."
After about 45 minutes of this....the cube was solved. He was so excited (and quite warm from all the exciting anticipation) he had to go back and show the boys.
This was Saturday night and the boys had been in their room winding down, but we let them play in their rooms longer on the weekend.

I would have googled the cheat sheet to solve the rubix cube too. The cube just looks so cool when it's all solved.
That's so much fun! I'm glad he could figure it out - they're such a mystery to me.
Hahahahaha, I love it!I would've cheated too...or maybe not even done it.
Yah, M can do those (or at least could a few years ago) but it's all memorized. I think it's cheating too, but since I don't know anyone who has personally been able to solve one without just "learning the tricks," I can't blame anyone for doing it that way.
Rubix cubes make me feel frustrated an inept. Way to go smart hubby.
OK, so my last semester of college I couldn't sleep. Literally. I was always up all night, and when I didn't feel like painting I was doing crossword puzzles. Then that got old. So I bought a rubik's cube. I had a friend who taught me a little bit each day, until after a week I had it down. Now I forgot how to do it. I should try it again.
