So I painted our front "living room" about a month ago. I love to paint, but I stink at doing it. The boys were actually really excited to help me...it was an olive green color, and they did the base coat on one wall. It opened up a can of worms, b/c they wanted to paint more. So my front room is a Golden/Honey/Squash color. I LOVE it! Definitely a different feel than before.
Before
I'm very excited about my new "wall art" I got a wrap around canvas printed with a picture I took under a pier in Puerto Rico. It is a 24x36 canvas, so quite large. Not fond of the green chair, but it is our time out chair....it works:) I'll say "go to the green chair" and this is the time out spot....anyway.....
After painting this room, it is fine everywhere except the edges...I am AWFUL at edges! You can't really see it here, but I got it on the ceiling, the baseboard, etc. I was so bummed b/c I even had a tip from a painter I met at Home Depot to put a little caulking in the corner, but it still didn't work. I had plans to redo my kitchen a dark green color and I did not want my edges to look bad....so....I had 5 painters come out and give me bids for painting my kitchen/family room. I even tried to do a barter and swap my photography services. I mentioned to my friends Candida & Emily that I was getting bids, and they both independantly of each other offered to help b/c they are "really good at edges." I did not realize my friends had such a talent.
So, I took the gamble and took them up on the offer. Thus the adventure began. With our little ones in tow, we did it over the course of 5 or 6 sporadic days. It was fun, and a releif to see how good it looks in the end. I did most of the rolling, but emily took down my blinds for me...a feat I wasn't sure about, and she even put together my new computer armoire (that I'm typing from right
now). What hand
y friends I have! There were a couple of instances where we had others helping/watching...my mom, Pam, Liz, Becca, and Michele kept us company with conversation on differenet occasions while we worked...and of course with our brood of children, there was chaos at times.
Finished product:
I have plans to hang that square above the chest.
couches are pushed back against the wall here...they aren't normally

The painting looks great! I can't wait until I OWN a place and can paint it whatever I want! I finally figured out logging into your blog, and have had fun looking at your old entries I missed...
You are so bold--I love it! I've been watching Trading Spaces lately...between that and your blog I may be getting the itch to do something adventuresome in the house...now to convince my husband :)
ok that looks fabulous!!! like the yellow and the green all blend! it may be a little on the wild side but still very homy and sophisicated! it looks great! and me too, i love to paint too. but the only part i don't like is when you paint all day and all night, then wake up in the morning and all your bones and your whole body aches! that is the only sucky part! but very cute:)
oh and most people would be scared to try those colors, but you just went out and did it! go you!!! :)
Wow! I don't know that I would have picked those colors, but they suit you SO WELL. :o) How wonderful that you had such skilled friends to help out!
I love your happy colors! And so great you had friends to help out. I'm with you though... I don't like painting the edges and I'm not too good at it either... but next time you should try this tool called a Shurline, which I love, because it makes the edges super easy.
I love all the info but I'm crazy because I can't see any of the pictures!! I'll check again later!
Fun colors! I love them!
